Welcome to the IMFR  – Service Above Self!

You have certainly heard about the main theme that unites about 1.2 million Rotarians, that are organized in more than 34,000 clubs worldwide. They are dedicated to make a change through supporting education and job training, providing clean water, combating hunger, and improving health and sanitation. Their flagship project is the commitment to the eradication of polio.

A key feature of all Rotary Clubs and the global community of Rotarians is fellowship. Rotarians do not only unite in service but also in sharing their hobbies and specific interests. If you are a Rotarian interested in long-distance running you will find inspiring friend- and fellowship in the IMFR, where members together enjoy the pleasure of running marathons, halfmarathons, or 10K ‘sprints’ at interesting destinations across the world.

Join us this year in Cape Town!

After several years of not being able to gather, I’m very excited to share that the board has been working hard to plan an exciting opportunity for 2023.  Please see the full itinerary and booking instructions under Cape Town or by clicking HERE

In October we will gather in Cape Town for the Cape Town Marathon (https://capetownmarathon.com/), taking us to Africa for the first time as a fellowship! What a wonderful opportunity to explore somewhere new and meet fellow Rotarians in an area we have never been to before as a group.

Exact plans are still in the works but we hope you’ll be saving the date to join us. The Cape Town Marathon Weekend is 14-15 October. There will be offered not only a city marathon but also shorter distances of 5k or 10k as well trails runs over 22k or 46k.

We are currently planning to offer an extended tourist program during Oct. 3 – 18, 2023 with further options for shorter trips around the marathon weekend.
